Ngakan Putu Agus Arta Wijaya, professionally known as NPAAW, is a Balinese artist born in 1990 in Denpasar, Indonesia. After graduating from the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Denpasar, he spent time in Yogyakarta to broaden his artistic perspective. His distinctive style merges realism and surrealism, blending traditional and modern elements. NPAAW often employs animal idioms in his paintings, creating objects that occupy various dimensions on the canvas and framing unusual spatial directions. He believes that the characteristics and symbols of each animal are shaped by human perceptions. While his paintings visually depart from traditional Balinese art principles, they convey concepts reflecting the stories and beliefs ingrained in him as a young Balinese.
