Bob 'Sick' Yudhita Agung

PROJECT POP IN BOUTIQUE METAFORA BOLA

100 x 100 cm
Mixed Media on Canvas

Bob Sick uses bold strokes and distorted figuration that collide in a visual rhythm, making the painting feel raw, immediate, and hypnotic. This isn't just a portrait of a person—it's a portrait of a state of mind. The central figure, wearing a hat and seemingly holding an umbrella or sword, looks chaos. Even the absurd title offers no explanation; instead, it invites the viewer to feel rather than interpret.

Artist profile
Bob “Sick” Agung’s art are reflections on the human condition – both the turmoil in society and the struggles of the individual soul. Many of his exhibitions and works explicitly grapple with themes of existential angst, resilience, and humanity’s darker sides. In fact, his 2019 Kuala Lumpur solo show was tellingly titled “Sick – An Exploration of the Human Condition,” highlighting his preoccupation with what it means to be human. Curators noted that “for an artist who seems to have lived a maximalist life, [his] works collectively speak of a haunting of the soul”, whether in response to external turmoil like war and violence or through introspective self-examination. His canvases often convey a sense of both personal demons and collective anxieties, suggesting that he channels his own life’s turbulence into a broader commentary on suffering, survival, and hope.
